We are Home

It was a great week but it's good to be home!
Thank you Scouts for an enjoyable week.

Travel update

As of 11:45 we are on route 539 and just crossed into ocean county.
We are still planning on 12:15 arrival but if we are going to hit traffic, it will most likely be between here and the Moose.

See you there.

On our way home!

We have left for home at 10:40AM.
ETA is @ 12:15 -12:30 at the Moose parking lot.
However, shore traffic could slow us down.
I will send an update when we get closer.
Check in for updates.

Honor camper of the week.

Our own SPL Tommy L was named "Honor Camper"of the week.

Tommy was chosen by his fellow Scouts for this honor.

All of the Leaders are in agreement that Tommy did an outstanding job as SPL this week. The Scouts and the Leaders always knew who to turn to when a question came up.

Tommy was on top of the program all the way through. He knew where we had to be when, and what had to be filled out and turned in before it was due.

Please be sure to congratulate him next time you see him.

Thanks Tommy!

Poll question answer

The total number of Merit Badges earned this week was 65.
So our Scouts did better than we even expected.

Good Job Troop 61!

Getting ready

We are packed up, the trailer is loaded, and we are heading off to Breakfast.

After closing ceromonies and final inspection, we will be on our way.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

Stay tuned for travel updates.

Late Friday

Daniel A completed the Mile Swim today! One of only two Scouts in the whole camp that attempted it - and he finished way ahead of the other Scout. Congratulations!

It's been a very long day and we are all looking forward to coming home tomorrow.
The Scouts have had a blast but it's time to go.

We have an early start to start packing up and we should be on the road by 11:00 AM.
I will send some updates on our progress as we travel Saturday.

Good night!

The Striking Vipers built this during their Dan Beard program.

Ask them to explain it.

Friday

Good Friday morning everyone!

After a chilly night, we are enjoying plenty of sunshine and blue skies this morning.

Breakfast was ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches and hash browns.

The God squad attended their final chapel service.

Everyone is scurrying around this morning dotting the "I" and crossing the "T"s on their merit badges.
Some classes are already done for the week so there is more free time today than during the past week.

The Leaders are also busy turning in all our paper work for the various contests, awards, patches, etc.

We had 18 out of 20 Scouts earn the "Polar Bear" patch.
We had 12 earn the "Duty to God" patch.
We had 4 earn the "Snorkel BSA" patch.
Today we have one Scout attempting the BSA mile swim.

Our packing up, cleaning up, etc. will start today as well.

So we have a busy day ahead of us and a big closing program tonight.

I will send more photos and updates later today.
